GZF1 has been identified as a gene whose expression is induced by a neurotrophic factor, GDNF. It codes a protein which has BTB/POZ domain in its N-terminal region and 10 of zinc finger motifs in its C-terminal area from the center. It has been known by performance analysis that GZF1 is a transcriptional repression factor which sequence-specifically binds to DNA and the binding sequence is present in transcription control region of HOXA10.
