Neurofilaments are intermediate diameter (10nm) filaments that are located in neurons specifically. They are usually composed of three mid-diameter filament proteins, NfL, NfM, and NfH, and are associated with the maintenance of the inner diameter of nerves. Neurofilaments are expressed specifically in nerves and their expression increases after nerve injury from neurological or traumatic diseases. Therefore, they are attracting attention as biomarkers that reflect the state of neurological disorders. This ELISA kit specifically measures neurofilament light chain (NfL) in human CSF.
