Solid phase sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the determination of Periostin in human serum, EDTA plasma, heparin plasma and cell culture supernatant. For research use only, not for use in diagnostic procedures.

Periostin is approx. 90kDa, an extracellular matrix protein that expresses on an outer membrane of bone and a periodontal membrane. It has a function as a ligand ofαVβ3 andαVβ5 and it involves cell migrant and cell adhesion. In addition, it has been known that it binds extracellular matrix protein such as collagen, fibronectin and tenascin C. In recent year, it has been reported that periostin is elevated in pancreatic cancer. Some research and development of drugs and in vitro diagnostic maker using neutralizing antibody have been conducted as it has also been suggested that periostin may involves with allergy such as heart failure and bronchitis.
