Solid phase sandwich ELISA for the determination of Human Thioredoxin in serum, EDTA plasma, urine and cell culture supernatant. For research use only, not for use in diagnostic procedures.

Human thioredoxin is a 120 kDa protein which consists of 105 amino acids and regulates the redox status in living bodies by reactions of two vicinal cysteines in its active site. It is known that thioredoxins are induced by stress such as ultraviolet, radiation, oxidant and viral infection, and act as a biological defense factor against stress, showing antioxidant effects and regulating activities of intracellular signaling molecules and transcription factors. Therefore, measuring thioredoxin is expected to monitor body’s stress status, and the study to improve the stress-resistance has been proceeding.
